The Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Lagos State Police Command has arrested seven suspected members of two fraud syndicates accused of extorting N24 million from businessmen and women in Lagos markets. The suspects, who referred to themselves as 'local 419', allegedly used fake business transactions, bogus investment opportunities, and dollar-washing schemes to defraud victims. Police sources revealed that one syndicate had compiled a target list of over 125 business operators across markets including Oshodi, Arena, Idumota, Alaba International Market, and Trade Fair. The syndicates operated from Ogun State while identifying prospective victims in Lagos.
