Six Nigerians accused of defrauding more than 100 women in the United States of about $6 million (over N8 billion) through online romance scams were reportedly extradited from South Africa to the United States. In response to xenophobic attacks, Nigerian senators and members of the House of Representatives have moved against South Africa, suspending official visits and legislative engagements, and urging the 36 state legislators to follow suit.
