Brigid Kemmerer, a New York Times bestselling author of young-adult and romantasy novels, previously wrote during lunch breaks while working in finance and raising three children. After achieving bestseller status, she was able to quit her corporate job in 2016. Now 48 and based in Baltimore, Kemmerer has been a full-time author for 10 years and has published at least two dozen books. She notes that despite her success, the loss of corporate stability can still feel scary.
