The Federal Government has confirmed the killing of two Nigerians in separate incidents in South Africa amid renewed concerns over attacks targeting foreigners. Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Oluwafemi Adeniyi identified the victims as Taiwo Fakunle and James Nwankwo. Fakunle was murdered at his residence in Kensington, Johannesburg, on September 4, while Nwankwo was reportedly killed the following day during what the ministry described as gruesome interrogation techniques by South African Police Service officers in Somerset, Cape Town. The ministry called for thorough and transparent investigations and expressed concern over the alleged involvement of law enforcement officers.
