NiMet DG Anosike Emerges President Of ACMAD Board

Professor Charles Anosike, Director General and CEO of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has been elected President of the Board of Governors of the African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development (ACMAD). The election took place on September 10, 2026, in Cotonou, Benin Republic, during the 24th Ordinary Session of the ACMAD Board of Governors, held alongside the 22nd African Climate Outlook Forum. Anosike's four-year term is expected to deepen Nigeria's engagement in continental initiatives for climate resilience and sustainable African economies. His election is seen as recognition of Nigeria's growing leadership in Africa's meteorological and climate services sector.
