Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, the third civilian governor of the defunct Gongola State and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has died after a brief illness. Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State described his death as a monumental loss to the state and Nigeria, commending his courage, foresight, patriotism, and lifelong commitment to public service. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou, Fintiri said Tukur was a colossus who made remarkable contributions to the development of Adamawa State and Nigeria. The governor added that he will personally miss Tukur's wise counsel and the depth of experience he brought to matters concerning the state and nation.
