President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of elder statesman and former Governor of old Gongola State, Alhaji Bamanga Muhammad Tukur, who died at the age of 90. Tinubu described Tukur as a man of bold ideas and said his passing marked the end of a remarkable chapter in Nigeria's political and economic history. He highlighted Tukur's career spanning public administration, governance, industry, politics, and pan-African business leadership. Tukur was born on September 15, 1935, and served as General Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority from 1975 to 1982.
