Three countries in East Africa where it snows

Despite being near the Equator, some East African countries have snow and glaciers on their highest mountains. Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak at 5,895 metres, has a summit covered in snow and ice year-round. Kenya's Mount Kenya, the continent's second-highest mountain at 5,199 metres, straddles the Equator and features glacier-covered summits, with UNESCO noting 12 remnant glaciers. These natural features make East Africa a unique region for snow despite its tropical location.
