The presidential candidate of the Liberation People's Party (LPP), Dr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has promised to replace the government's approach to subsidies with a rebate system designed to directly support Nigerians who pay for essential services. He made the promise after his unveiling at the party's National Convention and Presidential Primary in Abuja. Nwajiuba said his proposed government would provide rebates to citizens who pay for electricity, fuel and other necessities. He argued that government's responsibility should be to support Nigerians rather than subsidise products or their importers.
