The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) administration has inaugurated a taskforce of senior health experts to reduce maternal mortality. The team will work under the Maternal and Neonatal Mortal Reduction Innovation Initiative (MAMII), a federal programme targeting 172 high-burden Local Government Areas across 33 states. The initiative aims to increase health facility utilisation and skilled birth attendance by at least 60 per cent, with a goal of reducing maternal mortality nationwide by 30 per cent.
