The Ondo State Government has banned the sale and distribution of unverified alcoholic drinks and other substances following the deaths of 30 people and hospitalization of 50 others after consuming a local herbal alcoholic mixture called 'monkey tail' in Odigbo Council Area. Commissioner for Information and Orientation Hon. Idowu Ajanaku stated that the measure aims to prevent further deaths. The ban applies to alcoholic drinks and other substances in sachets, bottles, or other forms whose sources, contents, or regulatory status cannot be verified. The Ministry of Health has begun investigations and deployed scientific officers to the affected areas.
