The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a theatre assistant for allegedly performing an unauthorized hernia surgery on a 60-year-old man at a private clinic in Ekori, Yakurr Local Government Area. The patient developed complications after the procedure on September 8 and was discharged the same day. On September 11, the patient was taken to Ugep General Hospital by 33-year-old Bassey Bassey after complications arose. The police spokesperson, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, said family members attempted to mob Bassey at the hospital, and concerns were raised about the surgery.
