Lagos is set to host a Nigeria-European Union agricultural conversation next month, with European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food, Christophe Hansen, expected to attend the Africa Cocoa and Coffee Conference from October 7 to 8. Hansen, who has led the EU's agriculture portfolio since December 2024, has focused on protecting European farmers and simplifying regulations. His visit comes as Nigeria's cocoa sector faces tightened EU sustainability and traceability requirements related to deforestation. The conference aims to address pressing issues in the agricultural sector.
