Former Benue State governor Samuel Ortom has called on Governor Hyacinth Alia to account for N1.2 trillion received from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) following the removal of fuel subsidy. Ortom’s media consultant, Dr. Terver Akase, made the call at a news conference in Makurdi, stating that the funds include allocations for the 23 local government areas. Akase said the call was necessary for the people of Benue to know how their money is being spent. He noted that since assuming office in 2023, Governor Alia has enjoyed unprecedented financial inflows but has not provided accountability to the people.
