The Delta State government has launched the Bail Information Management System (BIMS) to reduce delays in bail administration and ease congestion in correctional centres. The system will be deployed in both the High Court and Magistrates' Courts, with potential for broader application. Training of designated court registrars in Asaba marked the start of the pilot phase. The initiative is a collaboration with the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) Programme, implemented by International IDEA and funded by the European Union. Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Ekemejero Ohwovoriole said BIMS will automate previously manual processes and significantly improve bail administration.
