David Schneider, a 47-year-old who runs a curated golf experience company in Southern California, described a recent round on a municipal course in San Diego where his three-generational group got stuck behind a foursome of 20-somethings. The group was drinking Coors Lights, smoking cigars, and playing at what he described as a snail's pace, oblivious to the groups piling up behind them. The situation escalated when the group began teeing off their finished beer cans and taking mulligans when their empties did not clear the tee box. Schneider said his foursome watched the scene from just a few feet away, calling it emblematic of a broader issue in golf.
