Former Ekiti State Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi has urged Nigerian Catholics to actively participate in politics rather than withdraw from the political process because of the perception that politics is a dirty game. Fayemi made the call while speaking at the plenary of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria at Our Lady and St. Kizito Pastoral Centre, Oke-Gada, Ede, Osun State. Speaking on the theme 'Faith in Action: Empowering the Catholic Laity for Active Political Participation Ahead of the 2027 General Elections', he said Christians had a responsibility to contribute their values to public life and help promote justice, accountability and the common good. He said abandoning politics would create opportunities for individuals who may not share the same commitment to those values to assume positions of authority.
