The Federal Government has announced plans to address unemployment and underemployment, particularly among young people, first-time jobseekers, and those not in education. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria's unemployment rate fell to 4.3 per cent in the second quarter of 2024, with approximately 9,870,000 Nigerians unemployed, while the underemployment rate also declined by 9.2 per cent in the same period. To tackle the issue, the government's Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (iDICE) Programme has opened applications for free business process outsourcing training for 50,000 young people in the South-West states. The programme is implemented through the Bank of Industry and co-financed by the African Development Bank, Agence Française de Développement, and the Islamic Development Bank.
