Kenya: Linking Theory to Practice in Airspace Management

Students and Directing Staff of the Senior Joint Command and Staff Course No. 42 – 2026/2027 visited Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for an educational trip on Thursday, 10 September 2026. The delegation, led by Colonel Trevor Ogutu, was received by Ms Seline Koech on behalf of the Deputy Director, Air Navigation Services (ANS), along with teams from Meteorology and Engineering Services. The visit aimed to provide firsthand insight into how ANS functions ensure safe, orderly, and secure skies in Kenya. It also highlighted the strategic role of airspace management in national sovereignty, economic activity, aviation, and national security, as well as the value of civil-military cooperation.
