Morgan Stanley has stated that white-collar workers, who are considered highly at risk of job displacement by artificial intelligence, may actually benefit the most from AI-enabled productivity gains. The bank noted that AI-related job postings have been targeted towards higher-income consumers. According to Morgan Stanley economist Heather Berger, high-income, college-educated, urban households are most exposed to AI displacement but also to potential AI gains, including productivity-driven wage growth, job creation, and wealth. The assessment comes amid widespread AI-driven layoff announcements that have dominated news cycles.
