In a social media post, IRCC stated that having a valid work permit is the first step to working legally in Canada. The department urged foreign workers to understand the conditions attached to their permits and to take action when their circumstances change. IRCC outlined three steps, including understanding permit conditions and applying to extend the permit before it expires.
