Port Operator Tackles Export Bottlenecks, Targets 24-Hour Barge, 60% Rail Evacuation

APM Terminals Apapa has announced a logistics strategy to address bottlenecks in Nigeria's export trade. The plan includes evacuating 60 per cent of export containers by rail and starting round-the-clock barge operations in the fourth quarter of 2026. The measures were unveiled at the third APM Terminals Apapa Exporters Forum, which brought together exporters, shipping lines, logistics operators, regulators, and industry stakeholders. The terminal's head of Commercial, Kayode Olufemi-Daniel, said the company is moving beyond identifying challenges to addressing them.
