The Lagos State Government has asked the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria to allocate additional slots to the state for the 2027 Hajj. The state Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode, said the 1,224 slots allocated to Lagos were inadequate and that a minimum of 2,500 was required to meet demand. He noted that Lagos airlifted 1,600 pilgrims in 2026 and 3,661 during the 2023 Hajj.
