The Lagos State Government has intensified efforts to tackle flooding, regulate sand dredging, and improve waterfront and waterway management. Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Dayo Bush-Alebiosu, said the state is adopting a data-driven and preventive approach to address the root causes of water accumulation. He noted that the measure of success in flood management should be how quickly floodwater drains after rainfall, rather than simply whether flooding occurred. The government aims to protect lives, infrastructure, and the environment.
