The Director-General of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), Aliyu Tijani-Ahmed, has clarified that the commission is decentralizing, not fragmenting, Nigeria's national migration policy. He made this statement at the inauguration of the South East Migration Dialogue 2026 in Umuahia, Abia State. Tijani-Ahmed described the initiative as crucial for the policy's success, providing a regional platform for stakeholders from the five South East states to address migration issues. He noted that the zone has unique migration experiences, including internal and international mobility, diaspora presence, irregular migration, human trafficking, migrant smuggling, and return migration.
