Taiwo Awoniyi was sent off with a straight red card during Coventry's 5-0 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Premier League. The incident occurred in the 53rd minute, two minutes after Brighton scored their second goal, when Awoniyi's flailing arm hit Brighton's Maxim De Cuyper after a jump to reach a long ball. Referee Tony Harrington showed the red card, and there was no VAR intervention. This was Awoniyi's first red card in the Premier League and the second of his club career.
