The Centre for Public Integrity (CPI) has commended Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu for what it calls a remarkable transformation in the Nigerian Army's operational conduct and military-civil relations. In a statement signed by convener Dr John Samuel Nang, the group noted that the military has shown professionalism and effectiveness, particularly in Northern Nigeria. The statement highlighted progress in tackling security challenges posed by Boko Haram, ISWAP, and armed bandits.
