Weight-loss drug may also slow ageing – Study

A study published in Nature has found that semaglutide, the active ingredient in weight-loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy, extended the lifespan of elderly female mice by about 12 percent. Treated mice lived nearly 100 days longer and showed improved muscle function, cognitive performance, and spatial memory. The findings suggest the drug may have effects beyond weight loss and blood sugar regulation, potentially slowing some aspects of ageing.
