The International Press Institute, Amnesty International, and a civil society organisation have condemned the police raid on JKD Television/Hamada Radio FM in Kaduna, which led to the arrest of General Manager Charles Abah and a security guard. The raid followed a video explainer by the station that questioned a N300 million donation by Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Political Affairs, to a university established by Jama'atul Izalatul Bid'ah Wa'ikamatus Sunnah in Bauchi State. The explainer, presented by Zainab Salihu Yabagi and posted on Facebook, criticised the public display of wealth as wasteful and insensitive, and questioned the source of the money. The organisations have called for the release of the arrested individuals and respect for press freedom.
