Rivers United have been eliminated from the CAF Champions League after a 2-2 draw with Ivorian side San Pedro FC in the second leg of their preliminary-round tie at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Sunday. The result left the tie level at 3-3 on aggregate, but San Pedro advanced on the away-goals rule after scoring twice in Nigeria. Rivers United had held San Pedro to a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Côte d'Ivoire, but the visitors scored twice within four minutes to take a 2-0 lead. Despite a spirited fightback that saw Chijioke Mbaoma convert a penalty and the team draw level, Rivers United could not find the decisive third goal.
