Following the Independent National Electoral Commission's publication of the final list of presidential candidates for the January 2027 general elections, political analysts have urged Nigerians to critically scrutinise all contenders. The final roster, signed by Secretary to the Commission Rose Oriaran-Anthony, was released over the weekend in Abuja and features 18 presidential candidates and their running mates, along with final candidate lists for the Senate and House of Representatives. According to INEC statistics, 16 of the 18 presidential candidates are male (88.9%), while only two women (11.1%) lead presidential tickets. The male candidates include incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the ADC, and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi of the NDC.
