Senator Mohammed Onawo, representing Nasarawa South, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement for the 2027 general election in Nasarawa State. Onawo was elected during the party's special delegates primary held on Saturday in Lafia through affirmation by delegates from the 13 Local Government Areas of the state. The congress was convened to fill the vacancy created by the withdrawal of former candidate Dr Mohamed Auwal, who also serves as the Nasarawa State Chairman of APM. In his acceptance speech, Onawo thanked party members for their confidence and pledged to run an issue-based and inclusive campaign focused on security, infrastructure development, agriculture, education, and job creation.
