Nigeria, Benin integrate Customs systems to cut border delays

Nigeria and Benin Republic are taking steps to integrate their Customs systems to reduce delays at the Sème-Kraké border and facilitate trade along the Nigeria-Benin corridor. The proposed real-time data exchange will allow both Customs administrations to share declarations, manifests, transit information, risk profiles, and enforcement alerts. The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, announced this during a joint assessment of the Sème-Kraké One-Stop Border Post. Adeniyi noted that although both administrations operate under the same roof, they lack an integrated platform for real-time information exchange.
