The Alhaji Abiola Azeez-led ISTIJABAH has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for promoting Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as an alternative to petrol, stating that the initiative has significantly reduced fuel costs for commercial transport operators. During a safety monitoring exercise in Lagos, Abiola, a State Executive Council member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and Zonal Chairman of Zone C TOOAN, said a tricycle operator could spend between N15,000 and N17,000 daily on petrol, compared with about N3,500 to N4,000 when operating on CNG. He described the cost difference as a major relief for transport operators facing high operating expenses. Abiola also commended the Federal Government for deploying CNG-powered buses and tricycles, noting that some commercial vehicles had received CNG installations at no cost to operators.
