Thomas Heep, a job seeker in his 60s who lives in Denver, was laid off from his role as an operations manager in April 2025 and has been looking for full-time work since. He now works part time delivering prescriptions to patients in the Denver area and began collecting Social Security before reaching his full retirement age of 67. He said the combined income is not enough to pay all his bills, and he filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy earlier this year. He believes age discrimination could be hindering his job search and that the bankruptcy filing was the right decision.
