Nigeria's Deposit Money Banks reduced their physical banking presence by 476 branches and cash centres between 2022 and 2025. According to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria's 2025 Statistical Bulletin for the Financial Sector, this represents an 8.8 per cent decline, with the total number of branches and cash centres falling from 5,410 in 2022 to 4,934 in 2025. The decline became more pronounced after 2023, with about 92 per cent of the total reduction occurring in the final two years.
