The Labour Party has distanced itself from Abayomi Arabambi, who filed a suit against the West African Examinations Council, the National Youth Service Corps and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka over the academic records of former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi. The party said Arabambi ceased to be a member following his suspension by its National Executive Council and the ratification of that decision by the National Convention. National Publicity Secretary Ken Asogwa stated this in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday. Asogwa said the party initially ignored reports of the suit on social media but decided to respond after mainstream newspapers described Arabambi as an LP chieftain, adding that the party would not comment on the substance of the case and that Obi was also no longer a member.
