Deposit Money Banks reduced their branch network across Nigeria by 592 between 2014 and 2025, according to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Statistical Bulletin. The number of branches declined from 5,526 in 2014 to 4,934 in 2025, with 27 states recording fewer branches and nine states recording increases. Oyo State saw the largest decline, with branches falling from 347 to 196, a reduction of 151. Lagos recorded a marginal increase from 1,442 to 1,444 branches, while Ogun increased by 44 branches, rising from 137 to 181.
