The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, officially opened the 22nd Akwaaba African Travel Market at Eko Hotels, Victoria Island. She described Nigerian Jollof rice as the best in Africa and participated in a tasting event featuring dishes prepared by 15 chefs, including three young chefs she trained through the Lagos Boy Child Initiative. The event was attended by representatives of the governors of Enugu and Akwa Ibom states, as well as The Gambia's Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Abdoulie Jobe. Sanwo-Olu praised Akwaaba as one of Africa's foremost platforms for tourism, travel, hospitality, and cultural exchange, and commended its founder, Ikechi Uko, and his wife, Rita, for promoting African tourism globally.
