2027 Senate Race: 1,303 Candidates Jostle For 109 Seats

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the 2027 National Assembly elections, showing that 1,303 candidates will contest for 109 senatorial seats. The list reveals a significant gender disparity, with 1,180 male candidates and only 123 female candidates. The document, spanning 127 pages, includes prominent politicians and serving lawmakers such as Senate President Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau, Oshiomhole, Bamidele, Kalu, and Natasha.
