47 applicants lose N51.8m to fake Cross River LG jobs

An investigative panel in Cross River State has found that no fewer than 47 applicants lost more than ₦51.8 million after allegedly paying individuals who claimed they could secure local government appointments for them. The Chairman of the Cross River State Local Government Service Commission, Nsa Ekpo, disclosed this on Monday in Calabar. The affected applicants paid amounts ranging from ₦100,000 to ₦1.5 million in the belief that the payments would facilitate their appointments. Ekpo said applicants seeking senior positions were among those who allegedly paid the highest amounts.
