Moyale Hospital, located along the Ethiopia–Kenya border, serves a catchment population of over three million people and acts as a Point of Entry health facility. The hospital had faced challenges including water supply interruptions, inadequate sanitation and handwashing facilities, and weaknesses in healthcare-waste management, which hindered infection prevention and control. To address these gaps, the World Health Organization (WHO Ethiopia), with financial support from the Government of Japan, invested approximately USD 42,000 to improve Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) systems at the hospital.
