A disagreement has arisen between the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) over the number of taxes, fees, and charges imposed on airlines. The AON claims airlines are subjected to 54 lines of taxes, while the NCAA insists that only four taxes are imposed, with other charges being cost elements associated with aviation operations. The NCAA also expressed concern that operators are creating a misleading impression of heavy taxation. The dispute highlights ongoing tensions over the financial burden on airlines in Nigeria.
