Weak institutions, poor management holding Nigeria back — Peterside

Dakuku Peterside, a leadership and public policy expert, has identified weak institutions, poor management, and inconsistent policy implementation as key obstacles to Nigeria's development. Speaking at the 2026 Annual National Management Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Management in Lagos, he argued that Nigeria's challenge is not a lack of resources but the weakness of institutions managing them. Peterside defined institutional wealth as capable people, credible systems, reliable laws, efficient agencies, transparent processes, and productive enterprises. Stakeholders at the conference called for stronger institutions and greater collaboration between government and the private sector.
