The government advises newcomers to learn how to identify fraudulent calls, emails, and messages, particularly those that threaten deportation or demand immediate payment. According to the government, there are seven things IRCC employees will never demand from immigrants, including depositing money into a personal bank account and making urgent payments. Newcomers should be suspicious of anyone claiming to represent the Canadian government who provides a personal bank account for payment or rushes them into paying fees immediately.
