President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has warned that the era of white-elephant projects and waste of public funds must end, threatening sanctions against officials found culpable of corruption in the management of newly established Regional Development Commissions. Represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume at the first North Central Stakeholders Development Summit in Abuja, Tinubu also directed the SGF's office to ensure timely release of funds accruable to the commissions. He urged the commissions to mobilise private capital rather than depend solely on government funding. The North Central Development Commission unveiled a 20-year development plan aimed at transforming the region's agricultural sector.
