Law enforcement agencies in the United States have intensified investigations into the death of American actress Hayden Panettiere, focusing on a suspected drug dealer believed to have supplied her with a fentanyl-laced pill. The 36-year-old actress died on August 16, 2026, at an apartment in South Carolina, days before her 37th birthday. Law enforcement sources confirmed that agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in Los Angeles and South Carolina are investigating the supply chain behind the fatal dose. Initial findings indicate that Panettiere met with a long-term drug supplier in Los Angeles before travelling to South Carolina. She allegedly ingested a single pill believed to be oxycodone, which was laced with fentanyl—a synthetic opioid 50 times more potent than heroin. While official toxicology results remain pending and could take up to 12 weeks, authorities are treating the incident as a fatal overdose. Investigators have also questioned individuals in connection with the case.
