Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, has stated that the federal and state governments must take full responsibility for sustaining Nigeria's health reforms. He made this assertion at a mid-term review of the health reform programme organized by the Nigeria UHC Forum and the Health Sector Reform Coalition, where civil society organizations assessed progress under the Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative. Pate noted that the government is adopting a new approach to strengthen coordination among federal and state governments, development partners, and civil society, while ensuring accountability for health outcomes. He acknowledged that the reforms will not yield immediate results, as rebuilding the health system is a gradual process.
