Nigeria and Canada are among the world's most active gambling markets but have developed under different economic and regulatory conditions. Canada's industry generated an estimated C$15.6 billion in revenue in 2025, with around 60 percent of Canadians reporting monthly gambling spending and more than 19 million active online gamblers. Nigeria's market is harder to measure because much activity occurs through unlicensed or informally regulated channels, with industry estimates placing gross gaming revenue at approximately US$3.6 billion in 2025 and sports betting contributing around 70 to 75 percent. Both markets are seeing rapid digital growth, rising mobile participation and increasing pressure to protect consumers.
