Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Zamfara State, has inaugurated his campaign council ahead of the February 6, 2027, governorship election. The event, initially scheduled for noon, was delayed until 8 p.m. due to a massive reception. Marafa promised to work closely with the people and to "wipe away the tears" of Zamfara residents, restoring the state's former glory. He thanked supporters and apologised for the delay, explaining that his early arrival was met with an overwhelming reception.
